Casino News – Wynn Resorts with monopoly in the UAE

Wynn Resorts International is the only provider to have received a casino license in the United Arab Emirates to date. This is not set to change any time soon. The regulatory authority wants to “very consciously” when granting licenses.

The Wynn Al Marjan Island Resort is currently being built in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Construction is progressing rapidly. The billion-dollar luxury resort is set to open its doors in 2027.

Wynn Resorts received a license in October. It is the UAE’s first casino license. Experts believe that the market can generate several billion a year. For the time being, this money will only flow into the pockets of Wynn Resorts.

“The government wants a state-of-the-art, highly compliant and rigorous regulatory regime. We are not going to rush into anything“, commented Jim Murren (Chairman of the GCGRA) at the Skift Global Forum East last week.

The GCGRA was founded last year and is responsible for issuing licenses in the still young gambling market. In addition to the individual casino license, a state lottery was also licensed. It is certainly exciting that James Murren was still CEO of Wynn Resorts until the beginning of 2020.
